The use of hydrogen peroxide or chlorhexidine helps to eliminate the bacteria that cause gingivitis because these substances have anti bacterial and antiseptic action, being an alternative to the use of a mouthwash, usually found in pharmacies and supermarkets. It is not necessary to rinse the mouth with water after this procedure, but if the individual does not like the taste left in the mouth, he can do it.
Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums caused by the buildup of plaque between the teeth and the gums, which is caused by poor oral hygiene. Its main symptom is red and swollen gums and the bleeding that happens when brushing your teeth or spontaneously. The best treatment to stop bleeding gums and inflammation is to completely remove all accumulated tartar, which can be achieved at home or at the dentist's office.
How to brush your teeth properly
To brush your teeth efficiently, removing all food debris from inside your mouth, including plaque, you must follow these steps:
- Floss between all teeth once a day. For those who have very close teeth and floss hurts and causes bleeding, you can use dental tape, which is thinner and does not hurt;
- Put toothpaste on the brush, the ideal amount being the size of the little finger nail;
- Add a little bit of baking soda or turmeric powder (only once a week);
- First brush your front teeth, horizontally, vertically and circularly;
- Then brush your back teeth, starting with the lower teeth and then the upper teeth.
- Then rinse your mouth with water until it is completely clean;
- Finally, you should make mouthwashes with mouthwash, which can be hydrogen peroxide or chlorhexidine diluted in water. But this step only needs to be followed once a day, preferably before going to sleep.
The recommended amount of hydrogen peroxide or chlorhexidine is 10 ml diluted in 1/4 cup of water, to make mouthwashes for 1 minute. The effect of hydrogen peroxide and chlorhexidine lasts approximately 8 hours.
This step-by-step must be carried out strictly every day, in order to have the expected results. But in order to take good care of oral health, in addition to brushing your teeth properly, it is also important to go to the dentist at least once a year to check whether there are cavities or if you need to remove tartar with specific dentist devices.
