Stockholm syndrome is a psychological disorder that affects people who have been abducted, prisoners of war, people under house arrest, victims of abuse, as well as domestic violence.
In this syndrome, the victim does not have the correct view of reality and defends their aggressors in order to protect themselves. This is not a conscious act, the victim does not do it on purpose, but it is a way his subconscious found to deal with danger.
The syndrome can last for many days and it takes some psychotherapy sessions to solve the problem.
The children's story "Beauty and the Beast" shows exactly how someone behaves with the Stockholm syndrome.
