Postec is an ointment for the treatment of phimosis that can be used even by children over 1 year of age and also by older children, adolescents or adults up to 30 years of age. This treatment can last from 1 week to 3 months, according to need and therefore the doctor should indicate the time of treatment.
This ointment contains betamethasone valerate, a corticosteroid with a strong anti-inflammatory effect and another substance called hyaluronidase, which is an enzyme that facilitates the entry of this corticosteroid into the skin.
How to use
Postec ointment should be applied twice daily to the skin of the foreskin for 3 consecutive weeks or according to medical advice.
To apply the ointment first one must urinate and then wash and dry the genital region properly. Next you should pull the excess skin slightly backwards without causing any pain, and apply the ointment in that region and up to the middle of the penis.
After the 7th day, you should pull the skin a little further back but without causing pain and massaging the area gently so that the ointment is fully spread and covers the entire area. Then put the skin under the glans again.
Finally, wash your hands until you remove any traces of the ointment to avoid eye contact.
Price
Postec ointment costs between 80 and 110 reais.
Side effects
Postec is usually well tolerated but can lead to increased blood circulation at the site and cause irritation and burning sensation with burning and swelling.
Urinating soon after the use of the ointment should be uncomfortable causing burning and so if the child is afraid to urinate for that reason, it is more appropriate to drop the treatment because holding the pee is detrimental to health due to urinary retention.
Contraindications
Postec is contraindicated for children under 1 year of age.
